Staff Profiles

Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor whose style of therapy includes compassionate, cognitive/behavioral, faith-based and whole-person interventions that reflect her light hearted and kind personality.  Her clinical specialties include treatment of adolescent, adult, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and life transitions.  She has experience in counseling for stress management, anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties.  Emily assists her clients in differentiating between symptoms and causes, including identifying self-defeating behaviors that can be replaced with healthy coping skills and habits.  She believes in optimizing strengths and empowering lasting change through the building of resilience.

Shane is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Bradley University Alumni with training in Biofeeback, Neurofeedback and qEEG.  He is a ceritified Brain Health Coach with Amen Clinics and is working toward becoming Board Certified in Neurofeedback.  Shane is also a fitness enthusiast and coaches young athletes.  He is a certifed woman's S.A.F.E. and R.A.D. self-defense instructor. He is a military veteran and a First Responder.  Shane specializes in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, sleep disorders, eating disorders, PTSD, substance abuse, domestic violence, concussion recovery, and performance anxiety.  He is passionate about helping people of all ages and demographics through their healing journey.

Ted is a licensed clinical psychologist who is the founder and co-director of Chapin & Russell Associates, a private counseling and consulting service in Peoria, Illinois. He is certified in career counseling and vocational assessment. Ted received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, and Business from Carroll College and his Master's and Ph.D. in Counseling and Personnel Services from Marquette University. He is a recognized speaker and trainer in the fields of management effectiveness training and organizational wellness. He utilizes a brief strategy approach to counseling and is trained in the use of psychological assessment in business and industry. Ted is a member of the American Association for counseling and Development, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Academy of Mediators, and the Association of American Vocational Experts.

In Loving Memory of Lori Ann Russell-Chapin, Ph.D. (1951-2024)

A Devoted Wife, Mother, Friend, Counselor, Colleague and Professor at Bradley University.

Lori touched the lives of many and healed the hearts and souls of those she served. She was the Co-founder of Chapin & Russell Asociates with her husband and life partner, Ted Chapin, Ph.D. Together they published several books on counseling, supervision and neurofeedback. As a prolific author, researcher and practitioner with a column in "Counseling Today", she and Ted shared their knowledge with professionals across the world.

Lori's passion was living life with love and applying neuroscience in counseling practice. She was Board Certified in Neurofeedback, coined the term "Neurocounseling," and was a beloved teacher, supervisor and mentor to several of our staff. Lori will be deeply missed and always remembered by her clients, colleagues, friends and family.

Joe Croegaert is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois.  Joe has over 30 years of experience in the mental health and child welfare fields.
