Child Custody Evaluations

"A dispute over child custody is often the most emotionally difficult aspect of a divorce and there is no more important evidence than a comprehensive child custody evaluation to assure that the "best interests" of the child are represented. That is why I provide much more than a psychological evaluation, I prepare thorough, "Child Custody Evaluations". - Dr. Ted Chapin

What does a child custody evaluation include?

A psychological evaluation, alone, is very limited in its ability to determine the best interests of the child. I believe a through child custody evaluation must rely on a wider base of very relevant information.

It Should Include...

  • Psychological Testing

  • Adjustment to Divorce

  • Cooperation in Visitation

  • Relationship with Child

  • Parenting Skills Assessment

  • Observation of Parent and Child

  • Preferred Custody Arrangement and Rationale

  • Child's Behavioral and Emotional Functioning

  • Telephone Interviews with, Daycare, Teachers, Medical Providers

  • Peer & Sibling Relationships

  • Child's Adjustment to Seperation

  • Child's Developmental Needs
