Employment Assistance & Performance Problems
The following is a short list of problems and how the Employee Assistance & Perfromance Program (E.A.P.) might handle them.
Stress
Your E.A.P. counselor will discuss with you the type of stress you are experiencing ie, family, work, financial, relationship, etc. The counselor might make some specific suggestions on how to approach the situation, some normal signs of stress and possibly some stress reducing exercises. If the stress is severe, the E.A.P. counselor might talk with you about a referral for some on-going counseling.

Substance Abuse
E.A.P. counselors often talk with people who aren't sure if they (or a loved one) has a substance abuse problem. The goal of the E.A.P. is to provide information in order to get the help necessary for you or your family member. This could range from basic substance abuse information and education to suggesting treatment at a center. You are under no obligation. The E.A.P. will provide the information and make suggestions, follow-through is always your choice.

Behavior Disorders
In a confidential setting, E.A.P. counselors will discuss concerns about certain behaviors and whether they can be considered "normal". "Normal" certainly depends on specific life situations for each person. What is normal behavior following the death of a loved one is certainly different than when someone is having difficulty with a supervisor or manager at work. Please call and let us help you "sort it out" when it comes to certain behaviors.

Legal Problems
When an employee or family member phones the E.A.P. with a legal question, the intake staff at RMS will notify our legal department to return a phone call to assist with answering questions. The attorney will offer suggestions and possible approaches to the problem.
RMS cannot represent or litigate through the E.A.P., nor can we advise employees to take any action against their employer.

On-the-Job Conflict
In the world of work, you are likely at some time to experience conflict. The conflict might be with a co-worker or possibly a supervisor or manager. The E.A.P. is a safe confidential means to explore ways to reduce or eliminate the conflict. The E.A.P. counselor will listen to the situation and offer suggestions or approaches intended to improve the situation.

Financial Difficulties
The E.A.P. is available for individuals or families who are experiencing budgeting problems or temporary setbacks. We can help with budgeting, looking at emotional spending, and assist with creative ways to get on top of things. We have financial worksheets to help put things in perspective. However, if your situation is of a more serious nature, we may suggest linking up with the Consumer Credit Counseling service in your area. They have been doing a great job of helping people with debt consolidation for many years. They have worked hand-in-hand with E.A.P.s for the benefit of the employee or family member and their creditors.
